Amazing Grace Showing (Ballston Spa) Print
Sunday, October 19 2008, 6:00pm - 8:00pm
The film is based on the true story of William Wilberforce, a British statesman and reformer from the early part of the 19th century. The movie chronicles his extraordinary contributions to the world, primarily in his twenty year battle to abolish the British slave trade, which he finally won in 1807. Wilberforce was instrumental in passing legislation to abolish slavery in the British colonies, a victory he won three days before his death in 1833. For over thirty years, Wilberforce worked tirelessly to end a moral wrong that was widely perceived as politically correct in the early 1800’s. He was driven to speak against slavery because of what the Scriptures taught. Wilberforce’s world was changed, because God first changed his heart.
