The New York State Court of Appeals, the state’s highest court, sent a case involving whether or not public and private employers must provide benefits to same-sex couples married in other jurisdictions back to a lower court.

When my wife and I were expecting our second child, we were required to take prenatal classes at our local hospital. We developed a relationship with several of the other couples that were expecting a baby around the same time. My wife went into labor the same night as another couple from our prenatal class.
