Election Day is approaching, and there is much at stake. In many ways, the future of our nation hangs in the balance. New Yorker’s Family Research Foundation (NYFRF) in no way believes that one's salvation could ever come through right legislation. Eternal salvation comes through faith alone, in Christ alone (Jn. 14:6, Eph. 2:8-9). It is NYFRF’s position that we do not place our hope in getting the right people elected to office, or in the defeat of legislation that contradicts the clear teaching of God’s Word. We place our hope in our God and in a salvation attained through Jesus Christ's finished work on the Cross of Calvary. We recognize that the Church has historically fulfilled a vital, even a prophetic role in speaking on the moral issues of its day. NYFRF believes that the Church, through the presence of the Holy Spirit, is a preserving and restraining influence on the culture, whose bent is not toward God (2 Thess. 2:6-7). Our mission is to motivate the Church to live up to its calling as salt and light (Matt. 5:13-16) and be the voice that declares “Thus saith the Lord”, concerning the vital moral issues of our day. NYFRF encourages all concerned Christians to devote themselves to focused prayer for the election, New York state, and America. NYFRF suggests the following prayer points listed below, but also available at www.ivotevalues.org. Pray for the Election
Pray for Our Nation
Remember the prescription God gave: "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14 One’s faithful prayers will inevitably lead to action. As James stated, faith without works is really no faith at all. In other words, we are saved by faith alone, but a faith that saves is never alone. It involves action. Following Jesus’ teaching on the Christian’s role as salt and light (Matt. 5:13-16) and our civic obligation (Matt. 22:21) has direct application to the culture and the realm of government. Our prayers and concerns for our nation should lead us to participate in government and engage the culture as often as possible. That participation includes registering to vote, encouraging others to do the same, and voting your values. Remember, how you vote today impacts tomorrow! |
