FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 2, 2010 CONTACT: Rev. Jason J. McGuire, (585) 225-2220 New Yorker’s Family Research Foundation (NYFRF) and the Washington-based Family Research Council released a new study today that comprehensively details the effects of pornography on marriages, children, communities and individual happiness.
Pornography distorts an individual’s concept of the nature of conjugal relations, which, in turn, alters both sexual attitudes and behavior. It is a major threat to marriage, to family, to children and to individual happiness. In undermining marriage, it is one of the major factors in undermining social stability. Social scientists, clinical psychologists, and biologists have begun to clarify some of the social and psychological effects, and neurologists are beginning to delineate the biological mechanisms through which pornography produces its powerful negative effects. Among the study’s findings:
NYFRF President, Rev. Jason J. McGuire said, "For thousands of years Christians have known the truths confirmed in this study. It is the duty of the Christian Church to remind the culture that sex was God's idea, and that His restrictions on sexual activity are just another expression of His infinite love for His creation. Intimacy outside the bonds of marriage (whether actual or virtual) has devastating consequences on the family. God's way is still the best way."
