New York homosexual groups are mobilizing for the upcoming battle against marriage. Empire State Pride Agenda reports that on January 24, 2008, about 200 people met in a Synagogue to “hear about where the marriage equality bill stood in the state legislature and how they could get involved in making marriage for same-sex couples a reality in New York.” The event was sponsored by Empire State Pride Agenda, Human Rights Campaign, New York Civil Liberties Union, and Marriage Equality New York, and quoting Pride Agenda, “about two dozen local Long Island LGBT groups.” LGBT stands for Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals and Transsexuals. Panelists discussed same-sex marriage, and they concluded that “the New York State Senate is the only remaining roadblock to marriage equality.” The strategy proposed on Long Island and at other similar meetings around the state is simple: identify Senators opposed to same-sex marriage and replace them. The battle for marriage in New York will be fought in the New York State Senate and in the voting booths this fall. If the current Republican majority in the New York State Senate changes to Democrat, the battle for marriage will be lost. Homosexuals are determined and dedicated to their cause. It is time for Christians to be just as determined in preserving marriage as the union of one man and one woman! |
